Im from a small college town.. So there are occationally some faster cars that come everyonce in awhile. Anyway the other day there was a 96 camero that sounded pretty healthy in town. He pulled off into the local sound and performance shop. So i thought i would see what he had to say when i pulled up behind him.

Anyway i came up to him cause he had just popped his hood and was looking around.. He said he had done a few mods: cam exhaust etc. I was just joking around and asked if he was ready to race for titles.. He looks at me and goes Im not crazy, I was told that your car is one that i shouldn't mess with... hell he even knew how much hp i had? I had never met the kid before in my life. And im not the type to go around bragging, If someone ask i tell them thats it.

I was like WTF?

My head probably got twice as big because of this.

This happen to anybody else?

One more thing... Anybody feel like the racing gods hate them? Everytime i go cruizing around there is never any nice cars out. Now the second i get into a friends car there are all kinds of faster cars out... This happends to me ALL the TIME. It even happened to me in the country. Last week I got in my friends car and we pulled out of his driveway to have a fox go roaring by... I just sat there and shook my head in disbelief..

Sorry for the long thread...

LMAO, look at your numbers. One thing i knew from the start is dont tell people what you got. **** can get stolen and you will have no fun. Same thing happens in my town. But there are a couple hot cars. Start going to different towns if you want to run.

Yeah i can go out in the stang, and cruise for an hour or so, and wont see any cars that wanna play. Then if i go out in my 'yota, there will be all kinds of cars that could be messed with, and even get some good races possibly

I haven't had any one say anything like that about my car being fast though, course there is a good reason for that lol

Happens to me alot in my F250. As soon as the Mustang comes out and there is nobody to play with then. I try and play with them in the Big Truck and can hold my own alot of times... Crappy ricers.

Proof that word gets around! Not so bad in a large town, but in high school I never told anyone what kind of stereo equipment I had. I build some boxes for a couple people and suddenly everyone in the school knows who I am and think that I'm THEE audio guy to come running to for boxes/installs and advise. Sure enough my crap was stolen. I never showed it off ether!

Yea it's kinda like when we go out to hit deer with my friend's suburban, never see deer. Then you go out in the 90 fox for a cruise and smash an 8 point.

Happens to me too. I see other cars all the time in my Wrangler. I get really jealous too when I see other cars and I am not in mine for some reason. I don't really know why........

You dont usually see a lot of fast SN95 cars running around compared to camaros and fox body stangs. I have them picking on me all the time... but I hold my own

Man I always find races somehow. Everytime you get up to an older guy in some camery or something, just goose it off the line and they usually bite. Although some camming ls1 camaro pulled up next to me the other day and I was quick to get into the turning lane. I wasn't gonna F with that.

I race everyone I can find, when I'm driving my '95 B3000 pickup . Funny thing is, they can't tell I'm racin'...

No street racin' for the Mustang, though, it gets ugly too fast, I've found from repeated experience .

I always get people trying to race me either when I'm in another car or mine is running like poopoo. Last interesting challenge came from an old guy in a 57 Bel Aire that certainly seemed as though it at least had a fairly strong 350 in it. I didn't even try to run, mainly because my car was pinging like crazy and seemed to cut out at higher rpm. I didn't want to look like an arse.

I did, however, waste an early 80s 305 powered Nova, or something like that, with two passangers and a distributer that barely worked.

I raced an old guy once that was driving a late fifties Cadillac. It wasn't a 350 he had under the hood, let me tell ya. Based on how badly he wasted me, I'd guess he was putting down 500+ to the wheels. It was so bad I laughed out loud. He was real cool about it, when I finally caught up to him at the next light .

I think this guy was really out to humiliate me, because my car looked like nothing to race. Winter crud caked all over and the top coming apart, I bet he was thinking "I'll show this POS." When leaving a redlight casually, I always seem to run off and leave all the cars around me and it was no exception with the old guy. He would always nail it right after I had gotten into 2nd gear and do a fly by. I guess he thought that I was actually taking off fast .

The big block thought crossed my mind, but this car certainly didn't have the deep big block sound. More of the typical 80s Chevy truck sound. It was a nice spotless car, though.

Agreed, that is a good way to mess up a perfectly good Foxbody.
