noise after intake swap

I just finished installing an edelbrock performer on an '88 gt. I can't figure out
the noise I'm hearing. It sounds similar to a lifter tick but a had no noise
previously. I was more than meticulous with any debri that could have fallen into the lifter valley. The parts changed were intake, power plus tb/egr,fms valve covers (for 5.0efi) and kirban afpr. The car started right up has good
idle and revs freely, with the noise only coming on under load. What do you
think? air leak? injector or lifter?

This might sound unrelated, but I think you should check your header bolts to make sure they are tight, and also check all of the hoses and EGR stuff to make sure everything is tight. A leading header or smog pump hose can sound very much like lifter noise. Also, you could pinpoint the noise closer by taking a long screwdriver and hold it against the areas that you think the noise is coming from and holding it to your ear (the redneck stethescope) :D Hope this helps!
