i listened a little better today. the noise is definatley there at idle. i just spaced it off. i knew it made that sound at idle, but for some reason i didnt remember. . like i said in the other thread, i am not convinced that it is in the bellhousing (at least on my car) i think it is in the oil pan area. did you listen at the oil pan?

just to clarify... the sound that went away... was it the hollow buzzing metallic sound, or the knock/ping/engine thing?

mine's driving me nuts (hollow buzzing metallic sound) I was missing the bell housing bolts like many others, but the noise is still there, although i'm not sure that the bolts fixed it

i just don't want to hassle with the dealer unless i have to

knock/ping/engine thing, but it went away because i cant hear it over the exhaust now it is probably there, but it does not bother me since i cant hear it. i was told twice that its normal. if i have a tranny problem down the line, it is documented a few times. i have less than 15,000 miles on the clock now. should be plenty for a warranty claim down the line.

1400 miles and I am hearing a clunk when shifting now. I can do it in my driveway. As long as the car is moving and I shift from 1st to 2nd, I can hear it. Maybe the clutch isn't 100% disengaging? We have a synchro in reverse now, so it is hard to tell for sure. I just noticed this a couple of days ago. The driveline has made noise since brand new, but I just installed LCAs and have been trying to get rid of wheel hop and I really notice it now. It is pretty annoying. I may try to remove the LCAs to see if it will help any, even if it doesn't make sense.

Maybe I am paying too close attention now? The transmission still shifts OK, but I can see where people would say it's notchy. I think it feels great. I had a TKO in my last Mustang, so I am used to this stuff.

Has anyone figured out the hollow buzzing metallic sound at 2800 RPM? Mine was built in Oct 04.

JT, no i have not. i have a small list of smaller warranty items to deal with, but never want to go to the dealership to let them touch my car. too many bad experiences with them for stuff i can fix myself, even though i should not have to.

i dont notice the sound anymore. i am busy listening for suspension noises as i drive now, since most of my suspension has been upgraded. i do remember that i heard the noise better when it was cooler out. this 95* + weather brings out other concerns.

I noticed this while underneath the car. At first I thought the noise was coming from the engine. Now I realize that the niose is coming from the bell housing. Like a knocking or tapping noise. Took the stethescope to the bell housing and you can hear it. You can't here it though the engine. The noise does not change with the clutch in or out. The noise goes away with RPM. THe noise is not always there. Any ideas?

I am pretty sure that I had the same noise on my car, it was like a light tapping or almost like a clicking noise from the bellhousing area at idle clutch in or out. My Dad also had a manual 06 GT that has the same noise. My noise went away when I changed the clutch in my car. I can't say that it is for sure what is wrong with your car it's just my experiance.

The clutch is only under warrenty for 12 months or 12,000 mile which ever comes first.

Best of luck in getting it fixed

That sounds like the same noise I have, it is more noticeable when it is cooler out side. Again I raised my idle to 900 and the noise has never return. Just wondering if anyone had found a fix.
