ok i have a 66 mustang and when i drive it.. it starts to make this sound like ... wamp wamp wamp wamp i asked someone and they told me its my rear end but.... i looked in a chilton book and it told me that it could be the U joint I just wonder what do yall think

When did it start? Was it gradual in coming or sudden? Does it do it all the time or just in hard acceleration? You checked the lug nuts but did you crawl under the car and check the u-joints?

Its all a process of elimination, check the u-joints first, if they are loose, broken or bent, tighten or replace them. If they are all tight, chances are its the rear end. Then again, if you have driven it for a while and its been clunking the whole time chances are good that if it was the rear end you would have had much bigger problems than just clunking. Put it up on jack stands and crawl under there. Check the u-joints and watch for any other problems while your at it.
