I am not very advanced when it comes to specifics on the internals of a motor, but all of a sudden, my car has developed an annoying tick when i accelerate from a stop (or at least that is when I can clearly hear it). I assume it is lifters, so if anyone has a good direction to go from here for me, I would greatly appreciate it

It is an automatic, and the lil motor has 160,000 miles... runs real strong, this is the first problem I have ran into yet...

Hey there,
I wonder the same thing, its a ticking when you accelerate. I wonder if its just the pistons, but i never thought about the lifters. Let me know if that valve lifter stuff works well, and what the exact name is...
Thanks

Hey , I have heard something like that on a similar engine of my friends, he is running an 1991 Eagle Talon....Inline 4 ...but anyways....might be one of your rocker arms sticking or a sticky valve thats not in the guide right...

UPDATE

I have noticed that with the lifter quiter detergent that the noise is considerably less noticeable, should be good till 302 swap!

Blue, the brand I used was CD2, it is in a yellow bottle, about half a quart maybe... Cost me 2 bucks, try it out...

Thanks everyone
