I own a stock 2000 GT with about 58,000 miles and I have noticed lately that it makes a strange noise when the engine is cold. I have searched stangnet but I still don't have a good idea of how bad this noise may be. I can not hear the noise while I am inside of the car. I can only hear the noise when my window is down or the door is open. It sounds like a faint intermittent rattling noise coming from the driver’s side of the engine. The noise seems to be coming from somewhere around the wheel well. I mainly hear the noise upon startup (if the engine is cold) and then it quickly goes away. From what I've gathered, the noise could be an exhaust leak, a loose spark plug, or something much worse. Tonight I plan on checking the spark plugs to see if any of them are loose. I haven't experienced any kind of loud sound or loss in power that would indicate spark plug blow out. Would a loose spark plug make a noise that goes away when the engine warms up? I know that this problem is hard to diagnose without any kind of audio/video but does anyone have suggestions on what is causing this noise. Sorry for posting such a common and boring topic but I'm worried that this sound might be a bad sign. Thanks in advance.
