hey guys-

Im looking to swap out my shredded leather seats for a set of summits- I know, those of you that have them pretty much love them.

I was looking at the site and I saw 2 different types- they had the regular "sports" and also the "pro touring" model. I like the solid color of the sports (my interior is 100% black w. leather seats, but now i have my homemade RSD that I upholstered in black vinyl) but I hate the fact that they dont have the lever for the recline and they use the dial.

Now the Pro Touring has the lever for the recline which I like, and it has a little more shoulder room- (im 6'1" and currently 220... i just lost 35 lbs and im trying to lose another 20-30 more in the next couple months, but i always had broad shoulders) BUT it only comes in 2 tone w/ the carbon fiber texture inserts.

Im digging the all black but comfort and adjustability come first to me and my fiance who likes to recline and nap on long trips. I guess I'm looking for opinions on whether the 2 tones look ricey or not. If I do get them, Im going to accent some of the interior with some silver krylon fusion like the dash bezel, shifter bezel, and some other stuff just to make the silver in the seats look like a more natural fit in the car.

Right at 6'

My head still have like 3-4 inches from the ceiling with the seat sitting higher. The only thing I dont like is that I have to get a little further from stop lights than i used to.

I had to drill new holes in the stock brackets. But not a big deal. The width of the holes is right. Just not the foward/backwards offset.

I dont like multi-colored seats personally, and black is always classy.

I thought the early Summit/Jegs seats had no recline/tilt lever but the newer ones did.

Someone on here has seats from a newer Audi - they are beautiful! I'd rather have an OEM sport seat than an aftermarket seat personally. Nice OEM seats are expensive (only feasible due to scale of economy).

Those Viper seats are awesome. I'd have jumped all over those things too.

Im surprised that I found them also- the guy just put in red suede sparco's and these were taking up space. he had em on ebay for 299 with 0 bids and a buy it now of 375. i emailed him before the end of the auction to let him know that id like to look at them and possibly buy them if i liked them and they fit.

the only reason that I came across them was because I did a search for recaro on ebay and he had recaro in the item title. i bookmarked them and then searched on craigslist for recaro and the ad was there too, so I responded to that also.

the things i like about them so far without them being in the car yet are:

1) OEM Quality- Made for a high performance exotic and meet OE/DOT safety standards- not like the ***** no-name stuff on ebay thats made in god knows where that is made for the cheapest amount of $ possible

2) Leather is impecable and the bolsters are in the right places. fits like they were made for me

3) They dont say viper anywhere on them so it looks like a more natural fit in my car

4) They utilize the air-inflated lumbar just like my OE seats, so all I have to do is swap the compressors over

5) Recline (although limited due to the fact that the viper has no back seat or reason to get behind the seats) adjustment is a lever located on the front of the seats, which means no having to jam my arm between the door and seat to adjust while im driving. Myself and my brother (fabricator/welder) are going to modify the hinges and move the stops forward so they go back further. ill take pics of that too.

6) WEIGHT- The stock seats (leather GT w. power driver) are about 40LBS a piece according to a side i saw (not sure if that includes the tracks or not) but these seats are 28.6 LBS a piece. Not much or a reduction, but it counts i guess.

7) Unique factor/Conversation starters at meets and stuff. NOTHING RICE ABOUT A VIPER OR ITS PARTS which rocks too

Im pumped. me and my brother are getting up early in the morning and getting on this. Ill have the camera, so Ill be sure to take pics and do a write up if anyone is interested

that would be me, seats from an audi TT

i had to have two cross braces welded to the seat frame (1/4" steel) and then bolted the cross braces to the OEM sliders

after looking at this link: http://users.adelphia.net/~mustang-92/Weight Reduction.htm

i see that the driverside leather seat is 58lbs and the passenger side leather seat is 40lbs.... so im guessing that that's because of the power seatframe being included in the weight #. so with that in mind, Im going to have to weigh the stock seats when i take them out to get a more accurate # of weight reduct. (if any at all-

anyone know what the tracks/frames themselves weigh?

i got the seats in today- a little bit more work than i was expecting- i must've cut out about 5lbs of plastic out of both of them. they are lower than I expected, but Im getting used to it. I think i am going to switch over to a manual seat frame because my power one is shot (worm gears are stripped and the switch for the height isnt working either.)

Ill take pics tomorrow bc by the time i was done it was 9 and it started raining here. they look sick in the car-
