I wanted to know, is everyones 2nd gear a little notchier than the others?? Is this just a characteristic of this transmission? Mine has been like this since I got it, but if its not supposed to be like that I do want the dealer to fix it b4 the warranty is up

Well I thought about your question and I have always had a notchy tranny on all my Mustangs. I have just come to expect that is how they are. I will say my 2005 GT has a smoother tranny than the last two, but still notchy. I have also noticed them to be notchy at certain times and flow right into gear at other times.....well that does not help does it.

That is exactly how mine is, sometime nice and smooth, sometimes notchy, so far I feel better about it!

just go with the 4.10s there are a bunch of threads here that specify the rpms, and it is not that much different than 3.73s they are about the same price too. any time you change to a nemerically higher ratio, you will feel it, it is the best ET improver for the buck.....NOS is close too.....

Those were on my 2000 and 2003 GT. I liked them alot. I want to do gears for sure but I drive the highway alot and will do the 3.73 gears again instead of 4.10

I agree with bigcat. The gears are the best bang for the buck.

I use my car for work, like at least 100miles a day, so 4.10s are out
I'm gonna go with the 3.73s probably. The underdrives made the engine rev up easier, def felt a difference, get them!

A 100 miles a day! I would stay at the 3.73 gears all the way or just supercharge the car and stay 3.55.

My '05 never feels notchy, though I may not be a good example, seeing as my '03 would scratch at times going into 2nd it was so bad, but Ford could never find a problem, and refused to do the TSB since they didn't see anything that wasn't normal. In comparison, the '05 feels smooth as silk.

Just drove an '05 GT with about 8000 miles on it and compared to my trans feels smoother shifting. Shifted real nice in fact. I'll just give mine more time (1300 miles) to break in. BTW, what's everyones opinion on the stock shifter?
