NOVI 2000 Intercooler

Is anyone running a NOVI 2000 with an intercooler setup? If so, could you post pics of how the piping is routed and what intercooler/piping kit you went with? What were your IATs before and after the install? I'm Just exploring some options. Thanks guys!

I've seen it done with the vortech aftercooler setup, with a larger heat exchanger.

No, links, i saw it in person going back a while.

I think you could get the cooler box (that goes after the supercharger) and get the rest of the parts relatively cheap.
Not sure why vortech thinks that what they are giving you is worth 2 grand.

Yeah, the vortech kits are ludicrously expensive. If I'm going to spend that money, do you think there's any chance this one for a 4.6 would fit on a fox, in front of the radiator? I like the location of the air inlets, but I'm questioning whether or not there'd be any room for the piping between my electric fan and the rest of the accessory pulleys. :shrug:

With enough thought and patience, anything can fit. I wouldn't put it between elec fan and pullies though, put it where fresh cool air will hit it first. In front of radiator? You could even fab up a scoop down low (buick grandnational) and direct air to the intercooler. Find out the dimension if that intercooler, and make a mock-up of it out of cardboard or something similar. See if you could make it work before you buy? Don't know for sure, but someone has to have used a Procharger intercooler with something other than a procharger blower, then it would have all the mounting hardware etc..I'm sure Procharger selld just the intercooler, probably not cheap though. Try some it out and then teach us all that have learned! Or better yet, start producing the aftermarket cooler and make a million bucks!!!
 
1991vert- that looks awesome... Your car was the car in the back of my mind that I remembered seeing running the NOVI 2k and i/c. Do you mind saying where you got the intercooler from and what the dimensions are? The piping and bracketry is obviously custom, but any info you could provide would be awesome. Thanks man!

31x12x4 (LxHxThickness) from ebay. i believe it was a CXR bar and plate type intercooler. seems to work good for me. i will try to get some air temp's for ya soon. i dont have any befores to compare to, though.

Awesome man, thanks so much. I'm curious about the IATs because these cars run so hot to begin with. I don't want to slap this NOVI on and then not be able to keep the car cool. I do have a Mark VIII fan and DCC controller going on though. :shrug: Did you play around with possibility of having the inlets on the same side of the i/c at all, maybe the passenger side?

if you get the novi with a straight discharge you could probably do that. with the curved discharged it was impossible. if you clocked it all the way down the pipe would go right into/above the header heating the crap out of it. there's also no way i could've gotten 2 inake pipes + the power pipe all behind there. it was tough enough getting 2 pipes in there lol. the straight discharge you could clock with the volute at the 6 o'clock position and then go down and behind the frame rail/radiator support and into the intercooler and the return you could go behind the fender apron and still have room for the power pipe.

i played with the idea of sending out my paxton and having it upgraded to a straight volute, but i already had the piping done and the holes cut; it was an afterthought at that point.
 
You shouldnt really have any problems keeping the car cool without and intercooler, i had my stock clutch fan and a 3 row rad with my novi, and i never had the car above 210* cruising it would always be 180, and in traffic it would creep to around 195. The intercooler is nice, but your also going to have to spin the charger harder to keep the boost at the same level.

Chris's setup is pretty ideal with the paxton, but he put alot of time and effort into getting it right, flipping the intake is def the way to go.
