Now the *&#@$! Dipstick won't go in!

I just put a new Canton windage tray into the '88 5.0 engine and now the dipstick won't go in all the way. I think it is hitting the new tray.

Any thoughts on how to correct this???

Make sure the dip stick tube didnt crack or something. That happened to me when I installed my headers, it cracked open just about where it goes into the block, the dip stick would no longer go in all the way. It usually splits in the same spot.

can you twist the dip stick as you put it in? maybe it will clear that way?

I would try bending the dipstick (only a little) and the tube to help angle the dipstick away from the tray.

Other than pulling the pan, I think that is all you can do.
