first off i have done all my searches on here and elsewhere....i am wiring an alternator from scratch........ all i have is the part and the "D" connector with 6 inches of wire...i dont however have the little grey plug..yet...........

i really dont care that this wire hooks to this color wire .this that and the other thing...what i want to know is where each wire ends up at....so i can run it direct...

also i have no battery light my gauge cluster is 100% custom with no idiot lights..... i have seen all the diagrams by tmoss and all the ones on yahoo and google,allford,modularfords,...and all that jazz

just tell me where to hook these wires

yellow/white.....
whitye/black....
green/red....

and where am i supposed to hook the grey plug when i find it...

i know its here somewhere but these damn boxes of wire.....man i tell ya i got too much stuff

Buy an alternator pigtail form NAPA auto parts or one of the other parts stores. It will have the D connector and the proper wire colors.

so what your saying is..

orange/black yellow and green all go the the battery while the white/black is to be grounded or run to the small single wire clip on the alt?

so here is a dumb question as well if an alternator has a built in regulator then why the hell does it need all these damn other wires? would it be easier to just hook up the wire to the back and be done with it.....

oh and yeah remember i wired a 302 fuel injected to a 99 mustang.... 3/4 of what people say are supposed to go here and there dont exist on this car my motor is stand alone i could run it on the floor if i wanted...i'll post another thread with pics of what i am talking about

You might note letters on your regulator.

A receives circuit protection (if not reusing the stock wire and its fusible link) and goes to the battery.

I goes through an idiot light or through a 500 Ohm resistor (your call with your custom application) and to a source that's hot during cranking and running.

S goes to the lone port on the side of the 3G alternator. Do NOT ground this wire.

I would not use the blk/or wires at all. Pull the sense wire (labeled A at the regulator) out of the harness if you are not reusing the rectifier harness or you could use your own wire and circuit protection (going from A to the battery).
