Do you want high-end or low-end performance? High-end = x, low-end = h. You're definitely going to loose a little bit a torque if you get an O/R mid-pipe, but I prefer the flow better. I believe I gained about 5hp or so (not exactly sure, but from calculations) from my O/R x pipe. I like the way the X sounds, as well.

If you want a hallow rumbling sound, o/r h.
If you want a hallow ripping sound, o/r x.
If you want in between, get a ProChamber.

As for mufflers...a lot of people don't suggestion 2 chamber mufflers with x's (I think it was the x), because it has more flow and some people hate it. I personally love the sound. I think it's how a mustang is supposed to sound. Anywho...hopefully I've helped you out a little.

If you really like the rumbling sound, it's definitely the way to go. I can't diss on either, but I'll tell you that I love my X pipe. It's really all about sound preference...ANY midpipe doesn't give you any more than 10hp, and that's pushing it. But like I said, if you like rumble, DEFINITELY get the O/R H...you won't regret it.

The x pipe is definitely louder because of the way it mixes the exhaust together. It is also said to have better flow since it goes into an "x" chamber. I'll tell you right now that Bassani makes a badass o/r x, but it IS NOT a TRUE X PIPE. If you want a true X, go with Dr. Gas, they make one hell of an X pipe, or so I've heard.

Again, an X is more of a louder ripping sound...here's a clip: O/R X Pipe w/ Flowmasters

Was that on a 5.0 or a 4.6? I could be very wrong, I just thought they didn't add that much for a 4.6. My mistake.

Bassani O/R X. It ran me a pretty penny, but trust me...SS is the way to go, especially if you live up north. I think it ran me $340 after tax.

Definitely install it yourself. The shop wanted to charge me $120 to install it. It was the best $120 I have ever saved in my life. Here's a tutorial for installing a mid-pipe if you need it: http://forums.stangnet.com/showpost.php?p=5020929&postcount=10

Hope that helps.

Don't get their BX series...it's aluminized, unless you really want to save that much money. You'll definitely have to replace it sooner than the Stainless Steel one.

Looks like Bassani's website is down right now. I was going to get you a link for it.

Here's a clip of my x pipe while I'm driving. NOTE: THIS IS A LARGE MP3 FILE [3.22MB], 7:39 LONG! It'll be best if you stream it in winamp.

Don't know where you get that x pipe is louder, but you will find o/r H is louder. There was a previous thread discussing this exact issue. But either midpipe doesn't sound bad if you match it up with the right catback. X pipes don't mix well with chambered mufflers, just remember that!
