Hey guys. I've been driving around with my bassani x and aft cat exhaust for a while now. It sounds nice and all but it has a tin can rattle in high rpms. The resonating sound thats doing it is out of control. It almost sounds ricer. I've gotten to the point where I change the way I drive just so I dont hear it (shifting in low rpms, driving slow). Should I put my stock H back on or should I buy some high flow cats to stop the resonating?

Thanks. If you guys want a sound clip or something just let me know.

i doubt the hi flo cats will make a difference. i got the exact same setup w/ cats and i got the same sound especially before shifting. i hate it. i too have been thinking of going back to an h-pipe but am unsure of the sound w/ the bassani axle backs. if you do decide to go back w/ the h, post some sound clips.

This REALLY SUCKS. I'm am about to purchase the Bassani X pipe that has the high flow cats and the pipe to remove the cats to make it a offroad X. I'm pairing that to the MagnaFlow 3" Cat back. But if it is going to rattle and sound like rice, screw that garbage!

Anyone else experience this with the Bassani X? Seems like this should not happen based on the cost of this thing.

Apex.

I dont think its the x-pipe really. Whats happening is I probably have way too much air being pushed out of my exhaust. With the Bassani Aft Cat(not the race) and the off road X when I let off the gas or when Im in high RPMs it rattles and sounds raspy, tin can like. I do get complements ALL the time though. Seriously, stop lights, at work, at home, everywhere. It sounds dirty when idling and just mean in low rpms. I just dont like WOT. I'll make some sound clips here in a bit. Dont be discouraged from buying just yet...

If you still have your stock mufflers try putting them on before you get rid of the o/r X, that's what I run on mine. It has a little rasp but not the tin can rattle. I had turbo mufflers and it sounded like a 62' Impala w/ glasspaks

Well for $500 I'm picking up a 3" cat back Magnaflow exhaust and the Bassani X pipe with cats (and the ability to make it a O/R X). A local guy here used it for 200 miles and then sold his car. I figure, I'll go ahead and buy it, if it sucks, I'll get the Pypes O/R H for $150.

I figure there is not a whole lot of risk in buying it.

Worth seeing how she sounds.

I am in the same situation as some of you. I have the bassani offroad x pipe and did have a set of flowmasters on it. Man it was loud sounding but It was way to raspy. It did rattle when you shifted the gears like a tin can. I have since sold them and am waiting on my frpp stingers to get here. I think it sounds like that because the mufflers are chambered and too much air is tring to get out and is bouncing all over the walls of the chambered muffler. So if you get a straight through muffler it shouldn't do that. Hopefully my new setup will fix my exhaust blues. The stock mufflers with the offroad x sounds so small and still high pitched.

Im in the same boat running an o/r x with stock mufflers. Let us know how the stingers sound please, ive been thinking about buying the slp powerflows but dont want to spend 450 and not like the sound. I might just sell the x and get the o/r h and flows combo.

Yes I'd like to know too.

And hasnt someone had a shop put those smaller mufflers back further under the car? Like the previous year mustang? I think that'd be pretty cool.
