Welp, i know this is going to be a great first post, me griping about a noise in my car...
little background: i'm 18, in AL you cant buy a car on credit till your 19 (or married, which i am not.)
so i buy a used mustang for 2x a fair price, and i love it to death but now it has problems...
i have a strange grinding noise when the clutch pedal is out, for the longest time i attributed it to the throw out bearing as i have seen this before, but now i had a guy tell me it was more than likely my input shaft bearings since my tranny has 205k miles on it, and since it only makes the noise with the clutch OUT, not in.
here is my question:...
1. will a regular T-5 from a GT bolt up to a v6, if so are FW/clutch assemblys going to be swapped out or will the v6 stuff be ok (i just bought a SPEC stage 1..havent even gotten it in yet.)

I cannot afford insurance on a GT right now, so i plan on swapping a v8 into my v6 (yes, i know everyone says this and never does it, but i have already begun collecting pieces to do it.)

Alright so what year is the car?

But, I guess it really doesn't matter, I belive they won't bolt up. I know they havea diffrent sized cluch so that would be a problem also.

You could get a tranny rebuild or swap that motor and new tranny any time soon and fix the problem.

I had the exact same problem you are having. I just let it squeel until it went. just it cost me 150 bucks for towing, which thank god insurance took car of it. It is your transmission more then likely. Mine went and wrecked everything, ended up getting a new transmission. . I honestly don't like the T5 tranny's that come in our cars. mine only had 75K on it went the first one went. now i have 98k on it and i'm hearing a noise again on my rebuilt tranny. .fluid never been low on this second, the first i wasn't the original owner so i dont know... I have never had this much trouble with a manual trannsmission in my life. If you do replace it, look into getting a T45. I hear there much more durable and you won't have half the problem. they are noisier though, but if i heard correctly, thats cause they have straight cogged gears and not slanted.

blah

Well, its more of a chirping noise... everyone who has heard it, thinks its the throwout bearing.. people who i describe it to think its the input shaft bearings.. still haven't got to put my new spec clutch in i just wish the exhaust shop hadn't owned me so badly by welding the exhaust to the cats
