Here's a new one. I caller Ford directly, and a few dealerships, and no one had an answer. I did a google search, and that was a nightmare. I have in my hands a brand new shiny 2005 Mustang key. Only I drive a 2004. The head is redesigned, but the key part is identical, and can be cut to fit. My question though, is can it be programmed? Are the 2004, and 2005 pats systems the same, or at least are the transpoders universal? I know for example Explorer keys will work in Mustangs, and vise Versa. Same goes for a lot of other Ford, Lincoln and Murcury models. But I'm concerned about any changes made between the 2 model years. So before I got wasting $100 for a program, can anyone help me out?

How many keys do you have right now? If you already have 2 that are programmed then you can program the third one yourself. It's in the manual..

All you would have to pay for is to have it cut and if it didn't work then you'd only be out the money for the cut..

If you don't have two keys already, then yes, you will need to go to the dealer..

Skud, I only have one key. Otherwise yeah, I'd do it myself. Lowes cuts keys for free too, so I'd only have a few bucks to lose on the actual key, it it didn't work.
