Odd Starting Problem

Gotta be the solenoid. Cheap $15 part, last time I bought one. Of course that was for a '69 and it was much easier to get to.

its part of the start assembly and last time i priced out a starter it was around 100 bucks. if its intermitent then its not the battery. if its the clutch switch you could bypass it but im still positive you just need a new starter.

I do have an auto transmission, so it's nothing to do with the clutch switch. I replaced the battery, and I'm still having the same problem. I was talking with another friend of mine who had a Mustang, and he said that he had the same problem I am having, only the microchip in the key went bad. Anyone know how to program a new key, or are we still leaning towards starter?

You aren't listening. It is most likely the starter solenoid.

Ok, we'll go the starter route - I'll post results when I get a chance to change it out.

Well, after doing some testing, the problem was not with the starter. Problem ended up being with the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Just glad it's fixed now

Also, the gauges were sweeping because the battery was on it's way out - new battery fixed that problem also.
