odometer question

is there a way to find out how many miles or on a car if the gagues have been replaced? like thru codes?

FORD, Even if you replace the whole gauge pod the mileage will not change. I am sure there are ways to mess with it though. It is stored somewhere other than the computer also cause I know people who have changed the computer and it still showed up.

What if he is refering to a Pre '99 with analog odometer?
