OE Wheels Peeling...HELP!!

I was washing my wheels tonight and one started peeling on the inside. I bought them about two years ago and expected they would hold up better than this considering I only drive the car in the summer. The others are starting to bubble a bit but this one was by far the worse.

Has this happened to anyone else? Can they be sanded down and painted on the back side? If so do I need a special kind of paint or something?

what type of brake pads are you running? some are known to strip wheels.

You can sand it down on the inside and paint it. If you don't get it down the bare metal, the chrome will continue to corode under the paint though. Blast em and powdercoat them for a sure fix.

My chrome rivets on my dd black cobra r's are pealing already and they are OE wheels. Less than a year old. I bet you drove them in salt or treated winter roads.

Nope, my car has never seen the snow. I would expect this if it had, that's why it's so disappointing to see this when I have treated the wheels so well.

The break pad's I'm using are Motorcraft and I'm quite sure they didn't cause this mess. It looks like a bad wheel to me because the others are considerably better.

I don't have access to powdercoat. Any recommendations on paint?

Interesting that it's not painted on the interior side of the rim as my OEM Chrome Cobras taken off an '03 Cobra is painted. I would think you would be safe going with thin coats of either engine or brake caliper paint.

Yeah, mine are peeling on the inside, but the outside spokes still look new.
I am going to paint the inside with some flat black.

Mag Chloride and IceSlicer (the sand form) both cause immediate rust.

It's definately an Ozone and/or exposure thing.

Best option was allready mentioned... sand and paint (or better, powder coat)
