I've got an amazing exhaust shop local who will weld up a pair of mufflers for $30. I spent $150 on the mufflers plus $30 for install. I think I made out pretty good.
Definately a magnaflow cat-back exhaust or Borla stingers! The borlas are more expensive but sound great. The magnaflow magnapacks are just as good for about 200 dollars cheaper. I have a few friends with a 99 cobra and a 02 GT both have magnaflow x pipes and magnaflow cat back exhaust and they sound MEAN!!! As soon as I get the money I am going to put the magnapacks on mine and hopefully at the same time I can affor the magnaflow x pipe as well
I don't know how the Magnapacks sound but the regular Magnaflow catback sounds awesome with the off road x. I had GTA's which I loved with the cats. I installed the Magnaflow (regular mufflers) catback two weeks ago and the sound is very smooth and quiet outside the car. I had friends follow me and they said it sounded incredible when I would twist it up in RPM's. The sound inside is very low even at WOT. There is absolutely Zero drone with this setup.
I just got my magnapacks yesterday, now if this weather would warm up so I could drive it to the shop to install all of it!!! I'm starting to go into withdrawls!!!!! Does anybody know of a 12 step program????? I hate the winter.
