Did anybody know whats wrong with my tranny ,
When Im driving my car real slow ,and when I relesed gas pedal I hear a thump or clunk sound, it only happens at real slow speeds and only when I press the clutch in 1st or 2nd (now that happening in all gears) , it seems like something shifts back in fourth from underneath the car like the tranny or clutch.
anyone know what it could be?

I have new King Cobra clutch kit and new U joints, this problem come before I change clutch and u join , so that mean something else is bad BUT what

So I phoned Ford Customer service earlier today. I talked to a lady who was very sympathetic and courteous. I explained to her my situation and she recorded it all. Then she said she would forward it on tothe Engineering department and someone would contact me.

I must say that I was very pleased with how the representative handled herself. It was nice to have someone on the other end of the phone who cared. Too bad there are so many other people in ford who don't. It's a shame that the people who care are the ones who have no power to do anything about it.

I encourage ALL of you who have this problem to contact Julia at Ford Customer Service (1-800-565-3673). The more they hear about the problem the more questions will be asked.

Be nice and take the time to explain your problem. Things get done much more quickly and with better results when both sides have a mutual understanding.

Just FYI, this is a very odd place to post your problem. This is a thread on problems with the tremec 3650 tranny, which you don't have. And your problem is nothing like the problem experienced by the people in this post - now on to your problem:

It sounds like you might have a a bad tranny mount. That would cause a clunk when you are shifting or hitting the gas. Hope this helps - if it doesn't, post your problem as a new post in the forum that's right for your car. I'll bet you get a better response than if you hi-jack this thread.

It probably wouldn't hurt. You should mention that you have already tried to ilicit help from the 94-95 Specific section, but got no replies. That way you're less-likely to get flamed.

I have a 2003 Mustang GT Convertible Premium with the second gear problem. I bought it last June. The transmission in the first one I test drove felt perfect. The transmission in the one I ended up buying at a different dealership didn't feel as smooth. It never really grinded, but it is notchy and gets alot worst when it is cold. I live in Garner NC and the weather doesn't usally stay real cold around here. I was driving around with the top down on Saturday 1-3-04, then we got 3.5 inches of snow on Friday 1-9-03. I bought the Mustang to be a fun car and not to drive every day. I drive a '99 F150 as my everyday vehicle. So when it is really cold I leave it in the garage. I have a little over 4,000 miles on it. I would be interested in getting in on a class action lawsuit if a group gets together. I guess I will wait for the TSB untill then. I have been driving Fords since late 1989 when I bought my first new truck ('90 Ranger). I haven't had any problems with the 6 Fords I have driven or the 3 my wife has driven other than my '93 Ranger that was hard to shift into second at times. I drove that truck over 140,000 miles before I got rid of it.

Same here. I need a TSB number so that I will not be ignored. My dealer is like "we have never heard of such a problem before. It is normal" I have the 1-2 clash grind when cold and the 3rd or 4th gear won't engage at high-rpm as well as noisey throw-out bearing.

I have more details for the fix. all of these part numbers start with 3r3z there are a total of 4 parts. The numbers may be flip-flopped with the part but I was assured that the numbers are right here they are:

1st and 2nd syncro = 3r3z 7124BA

2nd gear = 3r3z 7102AA

Blocker = 3r3z 7107AA

Shift Fork = 3r3z 7230AB

My service manager said it is a fix for the 1/2 gear grind. He also said ford will be releasing a service bulletin very soon. Good luck everyone. Cross your fingers.

Just subscribing

Got my 2003 used with 10k miles. Nice 1-2 grind when cold. When its warmed up its ok. I replaced the fluid with 3.2 quarts of Redline and its better but still does it. It seems to smooth out quicker. I thought it was supposed to be quarts but I guess its liters. So 3.2 quarts = 3 liters so hopefully Im not too low. I also put in a Pro 5.0 but now when it grinds I can really feel it in the handle since there is no rubber cushion. I would love to know about this fix.

Keep us informed with any more info. My tranny is pretty fubar right now but don't want to take it in if they're gonna put these new parts in. So I'm patiently waiting for the service bulletin

same problem with my 2004 GT

I feel everyones pain. I just bought my 04 GT and I'm really happy with it, except for the 1-2 shifting. Changing fuild putting shift isn't the answer. Ford knows about this problem and should address it. You pay 25K for a car that can't shift right. They should fix the problem with out any fuss. When i bring my car back in the next week or two to have a new alarm put in I'm going find out about the notchy shifting. Hopefully it won't get ugly.

I am taking mine in today after work for the first free oil change. I plan on having a long talk with the service department (and on up if needed) to see what it takes to get this fixed.
