...how much longer do you think I will have?
Backround:
The motor always has given off a little smoke when getting on it, but it's gotten much worse. Just as it crosses the 150K mile mark. It's been going through more oil than ever, suddenly doubled, needs about a quart about every 1,000 miles. Today while warming up, I noticed just a little comming out of the exaust. My buddy told me it put out a lot more smoke when I was getting on it. Otherwise it is running strong, doesn't feel worn out, but it's time is comming. I am going to swich from Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30 to maby some SAE 30 or some 10W40 dino oil, but this is a simple fix to a increasingly worse problem.

I guess I will start saving for a new engine. Maby I wil be able to throw in a 347 or 331, but most likley a 306 because of funds. My OEM T-5 is also showing it's age. All this crap happens at once. But once I fix this, I will have cleared a big obstical.

I am guessing I have between 10 miles to 10 years when the engine gives out.

well damn dude what do you expect? The car has got 150k and you are running a synthetic 5w30? First off, running a synthetic at that mileage is not reccomended, but it can be done, but more importantly, 5w30 is too thin. run at least 10w40 or a 20w50. B ut if you still want to use synthetic run m1 15w50

You should definitely at least be running a 10w30 oil in that engine. Also, if your oil pressure is OK, just keep adding oil and drive it. It SHOULD last for a good while longer provided you don't beat on it.
