OIL? 2001 GT Vert

Haynes > Chilton

My Haynes says 6 qts and my pony takes exactly 6 qts.

I just went an looked at my owners manual. It says 5 quarts so I am going to stick to that.

5 quarts would put you at the very bottom of the dipstick mark, we would always put 6 at the ford dealer, but anywhere in between is safe for the engine, if you put 5 just make sure your engine doesn't burn or leak oil that will bring the level lower in between oil changes

5 quarts is the exact center of my dipstick, every single time. In 01 ford changed the dipstick length (after doing some research) to allow 6 quarts. Not sure why, just know it was done.

My shop manual says the engine capacity is 5 qts however I believe that if you also change the filter you need to compensate by adding more and it works out to about 6 qts total.
