oil change after seafoam...

thanks for the replies... i just did the cheap throttle cable slack elimination mod, and ran sea foam through the intake... all in all, im not too happy... hah, well i guess i should be though. as far as the sea foam goes... i ran it through the intak to try and fix my high rpm ping problem... im running 93, and it still pings on 10-12* timing... someone suggested that maybe there was carbon build up causing higher compression and predetonation...(it is at 98,000) but it didnt solve my ping problem, i ran about 1/4 bottle in the system, and let it set for about 8-9 minutes, then i started it up and got a little smoke... not the smoke show ive seen from other people, but a decent amount for like 2-3 minutes, then i drove around for a little bit and got a little bit of smoke under heavy loads... but not much and 10 minutes down the road it was all cleared up. in addition to not fixing my pre-detonation problem, it also quieted down my exhaust like crazy! my mac flowpaths with o/r h ipe used to sound like it was lightly cammed at idle, and used to just generally make more noise, now it is dramatically quieter (until WOT, then all bets are off) but it just generally sounds "less mean." the drop in noise is a good thing actually, i just dont want to have to trade off how mean it sounded for a few decibles. but i suppose everything runs better now.... it is smoother running. next, as far as the mod for taking the slack out of the throttle cable, im pleased and disappointed at the same time, i like that my floor mats and carpet dont interfere with WOT now, but it isnt as comfortable keeping my foot much closer, and i dont like having to put so much tension on the cable during WOT,( you can actually hear the throttle-body butterfly linkage smack againt the stop, and im just sure this wont hold up like it should. i think i might have to use possibly half the spacer i used this time when i get around to it in a couple days...

dammit i hope not, i thought the same thing, but how could that clog up a 2.5 inch off-road exhaust? maybe ill take loudpedal's advice and do most of the remaining seafoam today, the problem i tried doing it on campus and only had the bottle and used the brake booster line, so just trying to get the line in there resulted in it sugrging and almost dying, it was extremely hard to even get the hose to the sea foam, so ill pour it in a glass this time so i can get the rest, then ill hit the highway and rev the hell out of it to clean everything out of there, hopefully it does cure my high rpm ping, or else my plan is shot to hell.
BTW HISSIN, dont i have to check the f/p while driving to see if it surges at high rpm? does this mean i hafta buy an in car guage to check? i know i could go to a local garage and have them check out the f/p, i know it was running at the right psi at idle, but thats a different story when under load/ high rpm.. thanks, Kyle
