Ok I got the on3 turbo kit for my 91 GT vert. I bought it with the cheap turbo thinking it should last 6 mon to a year till I save up and get a better one. Well when I first started it, it was smoking like a freight train. Looked and seen oil coming out the V band clamp for the down pipe. So I pull the DP off and started it and oil is just coming out the exhaust housing of the turbo. So I was thinking maybe has something to do with the return line. So I pulled the return line off the oil pan and pointed it straight down into a cup. Started it and still the samething. So next I was thinking maybe it needed a restricter. So I filled the oil supply flange and pretty much just made it a pin hole for the oil supply like the one that came with my t3t4 turbo on one of my other cars. It seemed to slow it a little bit but was still doing it. So I chalked it up to a bad oil seal as I searched on google and a guy had the same problem mine did when he first started it on his 01 cobra with a on3 and cheap turbo. Well just so happens a guy I know whos kind ofa friend but more of a acquaintance had a turbonetics t70 turbo that was older but supposedly it had been rebuilt and only had about 1200 miles on it before he swapped it out for a t44 or something cause he thought that turbo was to big for his motor( built buick grand national) Supposedly. I inspect it there was pretty much no play in the shaft everything looked good. Went to put it on and the exhauist housing was touching my inter cooler pipe cause it was so big lol. I pulled the housing of my on3 turbo and it bolted right on no problems. Matter of fact my housing over all was smaller but the porting on the inside looked a little bigger than the turbonetics. Anyway I put it on and it did the same exact thing!!
So now im at a loss cause I really dont think 2 tubos are going to be doing the exact same thing . This is frustrating me. I just want to drive my car lol. When I installed the turbo kit I put some new gt40P heads and upper and lower intake on as well. So im wondering if someone could tell me if theres anything else that would make both turbos blow oil out the exhaust or is if a fluke that both turbos are having the same issue? please any help would be greatly appreciated. Lol and if anyone in GA has a turbo stang that would let me swap there turbo onto my car just to see if theirs worked on mine I would pay someone for there time so I dont go out buying a new turbo if I dont need it

make sure the return isnt clogged or pinched, do you have a picture of where you put the return flange on the oil pan? if you put it too far down on the pan, it will not drain fully unless its at WOT. even if you got a little oil in the exhaust, it will smoke for a while. Did you check inside the flange of the hotside to see if the oil is coming from the engine? (blown hg)?

call chad at ON3, depending on how old the unit is, he is usually pretty good at warranty stuff.

where you located in GA?

Lol maybe you skpped of my long post but i know its not the oil return as I said in my post I pulled the return line completely off the oil pan and just pointed it straigh down into a cup to catch the oil. So there was no bend in it at all. Just straight up and down. But it still was smoking but the return port in the oil pan is maybe about a inch or so from the top where the oil pan bolts are. I live in clayton county jonesboro. Bout 10 mins south of atlanta

Oh sorry mr. Rusty must have edited after I read. But no it's not the head gasket. Just put new heads on. But also making sure it wasn't something else with the heads or what not, I pulled the turbo unit off an ran it for a while like that and no oil at all. So it coming from the turbo. Also while checking the turbo with smaller feed flange I just left the down pipe completely off while it was running so I could watch the oil coming out the turbo

Well that sucks, if your buddies turbo is doing it as well, I would say its a coincidence. Find a master power t70 and throw on there, i just sold one for around 500 so you can buy them decently cheap.

does the engine have a high volume oil pump in it? If a turbo gets too much pressure on it once, the oil seals usually leak forever, especially on the cheaper units.

It really just sounds like you have a bad turbo. and a bad control variable turbo as well.

Yeah stock oil pump. I'm going to put a oil pressure regulator on it tomorrow an see what happens. If that doesn't fix it I know it's got to be the turbo. I need yo check my oil pressure as well tho. I haven't hooked up my gauge yet. But like I said this regulator will tell the tell lol
