I use right at or just over 1 quart per oil change (3k).
My car has 129k on it, untouched 4.6 internal wise.
Oil is getting sucked out of the motor and re-entering through the intake. If you take my upper plenum off there is oil residue on the back of the TB plate and inside the plenum. The actual intake manifold is the worst though, as you can actually rub your finger on any given spot on the inside and get oil on it.
I changed the PCV valve with no luck. The car doesnt blow smoke.
The only thing not up to par is two cylinders on the passenger side of the motor are down 30psi compression from the rest... at 120psi and 121psi, which is too low for my tastes, but the motor is still plenty strong.
A quart every 1-1500 miles seems real excessive for "normal" use. It makes me wonder if the tolerances in these motors are as tight as everyone claims them to be...
