I'm having a weird problem. I've noticed that every time I open my hood my dipstick is sticking up a couple inches. At first I thought I just didn't seat it all the way down, but now I know its something else. Has anyone had this problem before? It sounds to me like it might be from to much crankcase pressure, but what would cause that? The car is completely stock besides a Cervinis concept hood.
thanks,
Patrick

does your oil dip stick have the black rubber o-rings installed on it, i could see if they were missing it might be a loose fit..

You might check the PCV valves and lines. I don't know about the current cars, but on some of the older cars if the PCV valve got plugged, or the hose collapsed, the crankcase pressure would push out the oil dipstick.

That was my first thought to, but I checked and all the lines are good.

shot in the dark

this was on an older pontiac in my 68 firebird, the motor had a turn down for the dipstick so it would go strait into the oil in the pan. that wore out and feel off into the oil pan (no big deal the screen will keep it out) but with it missing the crank would actually swing around and hit the dipstick and push it out about 2 inches. the way i checked was i took an extra dipstick and cut it in half and ran it, when it didn't pop up, i knew that was the problem
