Oil Drip From Bell Housing Spacer Plate...

Can anyone tell me where the oil leak is if I am dripping from the bell housing spacer plate? Attached are some pics...

The thing is, I JUST replaced the rear main seal and the oil pan gasket, and I haven't even filled the car back up with oil yet or of course run the engine....

And in case it makes a difference... the car has been sitting for a while (month or more) with the tranmission out of the car. I didn't notice this leak until I put the spacer plate, clutch, and bell housing back on.... does that indicate anything?

Are there any special tricks to installing the rear main seal? I figured you just lined it up and tapped it in... I bought the one from LRS in case it matters... thanks!

rear main seal- did you buy the Fell Pro one with the teflon sleeve? Did you install it dry? Sprng facing in or out? Thread sealer on the flywheel bolts?

Probably not the felpro one...just whatever lrs had... Not installed dry, I rubbed oil all over it before installing it... I don't remember anything about a spring at all... and I did use thread locker on the flywheel bolts... below are the old seal and then the new one...

RMS for sure.

When i replaced mine, it leaked for maybe 500 miles or so, then stopped. I've since changed oil a few times and no issue. I'd give it a chance before tearing it apart again. Just monitor your oil level, and degrease that area to monitor how much the leak is growing (or shrinking)

I don't think so guys...... I just dropped in my motor. New rms, sealant on flywheel bolts, new everything. filled with oil, engine in, tranny in, I got a drip or two. What can it be? Because its not any of the above...

Just because you put a new RMS in doesn't mean it can't leak. Over time the rear main does wear a "travel groove" in the rank. Some RMS are drsigned forthis andput the seal in anew spot. Some don't.

A new seal can leak . Likei mentioned before, mine did for 500 miles.

Other sources from that area would be s lower intake leak, or trans fluid (which would be red)

As I said in my earlier post, if you install the SS sleeve you will not have a leak, unless it is due to install error.
