Ok Guys,

I have been a fram oil filter user for 25 years and never had an issue and now I here that they are junk. I am ready to switch. Which ones do I use?[/B] Any recomendations are appreciated.

Thanks Dave

Hmmmm doesnt make sense to me. You've been using Fram for 25 years and never had a problem yourself but yet you want to change because of what someone else said about them? Sounds to me like you know they are good filters you have used them for longer than I've been alive. I am proud to say I got Fram sure grip on my blown 98 cobra :nice:

Fram's have gone thru tests as one of the worst oil filters you can buy. I know you haven't seen any problems yet, but I'd highly consider switching to the 3 dollar motor craft filter which has surprisingly high quality and filtering ratings. Couldn't be more than a dollar more.

Either Motorcraft, or Purolator Pure One. The Motorcraft has the same media as the Pure One, and has been proven to be one of the best you can buy. Fram is DEFINITELY junk. Open one side by side with a Motorcraft, and you will NEVER buy another Fram again.

I used to only use the Pure One but since it's so hard to get my hand around it I changed over to a K&N oil filter. The K&N has a 1" nut on the end so you can use a wrench to get a hold of it. But, K&N oil filters are super expensive! ($10 - $13) Pure One and K&N are some of the better oil filters out there.

I'll have to find my link to an oil filter study that will clear some things up...

On Edit: Here's the link --> Oil Filter Study

No offense, but I wouldn't brag about that too much ... that "Sure Grip" is probably the only good (I should say convenient) part of that whole filter. Everytime you start your car ... does your engine say? "Thanks buddy! I sure am glad you gave me that Sure Grip". :D

Like stated above it only needs to do its job for 3000 miles and ive owned the car for 2 1/2 years and have only put like 4500 miles on it. The only time i have ever heard anything bad about fram is on this site in this forum. Mechanics ive talked to say there the next step down from K&N but to make everyone happy I will actually save $.29 and get the Motorcraft next oil change! :nice:
