Was wondering if the 98 cobras came from the dealer with mobil one in them? I purchased some Mobil 1 15W-50 Racing formula for mine and was wondering if anyone else has tried this . Thanks

I hear a lot of people say they are using mobil one and love it. What would be good grade of synthetic to use? its a stock motor and i live in florida where its a daily driver? The reason im wanting to go sythetic is to possibly cut down on the engine vibration at idle. Thanks guys for the info. Dine motorcraft? Is that sythetic or regular?

Dino oil=regular non synthetic.

mobil one is fine, but just get regular 5w-30 mobil one Trisynthetic.

if you have 15w 50 in there now, u need to drain it immediately.

I went and returned it and brought 10W-30 mobil 1. I was going to get the 5W-20 but it stated that it was for newer vehicles and mine has 70,000 miles on it. But I think the 10W-30 will be ok. I never put the 15W-50 in mine. The only reason I ever purchased that one is that is said it was for hi perfortmance vehicles. Will 10W-30 be ok? I'm going to do the oil change tommorow. Thanks for all the help.

5w20 would have been better than the 10w30...

I've never put anything in mine except for 5w30 which is what the manual states needs to go in there...

You mentioned idle engine vibrations, I don't think that changing the oil over to synthetic is going to help much with that...Have you changed your spark plugs lately? Or your plug wires? If they are stock, with 70k on them it's time for them to go for some new ones...

i don't think mobil makes a 5w-20 so 5w-30 is the way to go.

Owners manual and all people with Cobras say 5W-30 ONLY!! They say do not even put in 10W30. The Cobra motor needs oil in all locations, and 10W30 is still too thick, even in warm weather. Stick to what the manual says. Ford knows best..they are the creators of the car right??

And DO NOT go synthetic with 70,000 miles, your motor will leak oil everywhere! Synthetic should be used within 20,000 miles.

So what should be used if your car has over 20k??? I'm bout to get my oil changed and I had planned on mobil 1 5w-30, my car has 27k. Why does everyone seem to always use synthetic if it will leak??

Well, everyone has an opinion on this. I am sure your car would be fine with 27K. I am jsut saying on a car with a lot of miles, if you switch to synthetic, it will leak. I personally will never use the stuff, and I have a blower. I don't believe in it. I just use conventional 5W30 Castrol GTX in all my Mustangs, along with a motorcraft filter. The most important thing is to change it every 3,000 miles. Do what you think, I'm not going to use it though.
