I have a supercharged 92 GT. Looks like blue bits from the felpro gasket are on the radiator cap. I have oil in the radiator and reservoir. I read online it can also be a cracked block. Just wanted to confirm before I tear it down, can a bad head gasket cause oil in the coolant but no coolant in the oil?

I changed the oil and it was black as night. No milky coloring.

If it’s a head gasket I’m happy lol

Cracked block I’m sad

The best way is to tear it down. You need the heads off anyway. Although they usually split under the lower intake. They do make a tool you can plug into your radiator, it reads carbon dioxide in the coolant. ( It reads something not sure what really) but also a compression check would tell you a lot to. I hope it's just a head gasket. Go copper.

Thank you! Yeah I tore down. I’m gonna do a leak down test this week. What copper gaskets do you recommend?

Older thread, but wondering what the outcome was? I have the same issue with oil in my coolant, but no coolant in the oil. Plan t pull the heads and check head gasket.

Honestly, I just ended up rebuilding the motor and had the heads fully re-done. Rings were also shot. I think the blow-by is what was causing the oil and coolant issue by putting pressure through the head gasket.

Well the good news is it sounds like your block was not cracked. I bought my car with this problem and it only had about 1200 miles on the rebuilt engine. Has aluminum heads and aftermarket BBK SSI intake. Glade to hear you didn’t have a cracked block. Everyone says oil in the coolant is likely a cracked block. Plan to pull my intake and heads soon to check it out. Have driven about 1000 miles like this with no other issues other than the oil leaking into the coolant.
