When i took off my upper intake the was oil in the ports, and up towards the TB, is that from a clogged/bad pcv valve? I am also burning oil up pretty quick too.

I would try the PCV valve first cause they are a couple dollars at the parts store. If you are burning oil, and there is oil in the intake, there might be some blow by happening. Take the oil cap off and see if oil is spitting out of there while the engine is running. Hopefully you figure it out, I hope your motor isn't going out.

i agree with svt32. also, when you go to the parts store to get a new pcv valve, pick up a new crankcase breather element. it's a little metal basket thingie that sits under the pcv valve. only costs a couple of dollars. if your pcv system isn't working up to snuff it will gradually cause an oil buildup inside the intake. a good indicator is when your car blows alot of smoke out of the exhaust under hard acceleration after it has been sitting for a few days. i am running trick flow valve covers without baffles so i ran an inline filter ( mr. gasket fuel filter ) on the line between the oil filler neck and the throttle body port. may seem trivial at first but over the long run it's very beneficial to your engine. good luck man.

The first step is to find out where the oil is coming from.
Pull the Throttle Body/Valve Cover hose from the TB. If it is wet with oil then this is an entry point. The normal causes of this are excess blowby (which needs to be ruled out with a compression test), or the VC baffle has been removed for rocker clearance. Just looking down the oil filler neck should reveal if the baffle is in place. If you see rockers, then it is time to get creative and fab a baffle. If there is no baffle but the TB/VC hose is bone dry then you may be able to get away without using a baffle.

Next pull the pcv hose. Again if it is wet with oil, this is an entry route. The best solution I have seen for this is a separator from Home Depot or Lowes. For about $25 for the separator and fittings you will be able to remove most of the oil before it gets to the intake.
Also, you need to verify that the pcv screen is in place. This often forgotten part is located underneath the pcv in the back of the intake, and helps remove oil mist from the crankcase gasses.

From what I have seen, the oil accumulation in the intake will be greatest when the car is left to idle for some time (stuck in traffic or idling in the driveway), then with some rpm the oil is picked up and thrown into the combustion chamber.

This is a pic I took of my engine at its worst. The car had been at idle for several minutes before I shut it off.

Hope this helps some,

thanks for all the help guys, im going to try the PCV valve out, its cheap. There is a baffle in my VC and I didnt see oil in the VC-TB hose. I hope that limits things down. I have a breather cap on too.

If you are using a breather cap on the valve cover, and still have the pcv in place, then you essentially have created a vac leak via the crankcase/pcv.

Maybe I misunderstood?
