Oil in my intake manifold?!?!? HELP

I have an Ebrock Perf. intake and RPM heads. Whenever I pull my upper intake there is a good amount of oil in there. I know the PCV valve has oil running through it to the intake but is the oil actually supposed to into the runners and likewise the combustion chamber? Wont this cause detonation? Is my PCV valve hooked up to the right hose on the intake? I dont know everything about cars but I know its air and fuel that make the burn not oil...

There should be a baffle on the bottom side of the intake under where the pcv valve is. If you don't have the baffle, it will suck oil into the upper intake. I don't think you can see the baffle unless the lower intake is off the car.

Yes, it is likely that the oil is from the PCV valve. Minor checks would be to replace the PCV screen (metal piece below the PCV valve), the PCV valve itself, and clean out/replace the hose from it.

More extreme measures are mounting either a catch-can or fuel filter (carb type) inline with the PCV hose before it enters the upper intake.

There is not a baffle unless you are referring to the screen - and although you can't see the screen, you can pull it out with a wire/hanger with both intakes still bolted on. It is a pain though. Whenever replacing the PCV valve it is a good idea to replace the screen or seriously clean it by soaking it with carb cleaner.

On the bottom side of both the stock intake and edelbrock performer intakes there is a metal baffle. The Edelbrocks baffle is held in by two bolts, the stock baffle I think has some kind of pins holding it in place. This keeps oil from being sucked in. Since you have a cobra intake, you should have a stock intake laying around, walk outside and flip it over and you'll see the baffle at the back of the intake.

It is up in the attic, so I will take your word for it. Either way, he is getting oil into his intake and this seems to happen to plenty of people and it happened on my stock intake (that is when I ran an inline filter and stopped the mess).

I saw my stock one had the baffle... However the ebrock didnt. Will the two be interchangeable? I want to know because i have my manifold all bolted down and everything and only wanna take if off if i can swap my stock on to the edelbrock....

I think its kinda normal to have a little in there, happens to me for my gt-40, not alot , but enough to notice.

If you use an inline filter how often do you change it? I was goign to put an air compressor de-oiled inline.

If it gets into your intake inturn to your head -pistongs burn then arent you burning oil. I dont think there is supposed to be any in there at all... I just wished that i out it on before i bolted that dammed thing down

Get an air/oil separator at any industrial related store..think even walmart sells them. They are used on compressors to knock out moisture from incoming air to the compressor. Run the line from the bottom of the Eddy intake into one side of the separator. Then run the oposite side from the separator a vac line to the PCV valve. By doing so you will prevent any further oil in and hold off on you needing to remove the lower intake to install a baffle (I hate removing/installing the intake). Yes you will have to empty out the separator periodically..but you will prevent the oil from getting in. I run one on my new motor..don't see much oil, but it does catch some.

I was told they aren't interchangable. I bought my edelbrock used and it did not have the baffle. The stock one is not held in by bolts, but pins if I'm remembering right. I think you just need to fabricate a piece of metal to go where the baffle should be or call edelbrock to see if they have replacement baffles (I plan on calling to see when it is time to put my performer back on, I'm retapping the theromstat housing bolt holes atm). Of course it would probably be easier to try what DMAN said since your intake is on the car.

Mine was on for 4000 miles before I swapped to the Cobra intake and it was not in need of changing at that point. I think it pretty much depends on the car though.

I just fabbed the baffle. The intake was on but the motor isnt in yet so it was fairly easy... here are some pics!
