oil in odd places, howd it get there???

Ok, i decided to change my spark plugs today. So I pull the wires off, clean, i pull em out, clean heads, old and needed to be changed, but nothing caked up, but the odd thing is, mainly on the left side 4 plugs, the threads of the plugs were covered with wet oil, the right side had this but it was minute. What could be my problem? I know the valve guides need replacing (smokes on cold start up for a few minutes a lil) but if that were the problem then the head of the spark plug would be covered too right??? hmmm

Possible leak from rocker arm cover?

checked, they are solid, no leaks, drips, or runs from em, so im lost

Were the plugs loose? If they were it could be caused by "blow by" from your worn valve guides or worn cylinders being pushed through the threads? Just a thought.....

nope, they were on there tight.

Perhaps oil was on them when they first went in?

Are you sure it is oil and not just burnt fuel? I guess it could be "blowing by" on every compression and combustion stroke. It could also happen by capilary action.

nope, i know what oil is haha, and my dad used to be an auto mechanic and he was confused so i thought id ask ya'll next. And if it was oil when they went in, then itd be equal on both sides i would think #1, and #2 it wouldnt have been wet oil, but dried/caked/burnt stuff.

Well, if you take the new ones out after a while and find the same thing, then there's no doubt it has to be coming from the cylinder right?
