Oil on top of tranny

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. Is there an actual gasket back there or is it just the black silicone? Manchester CT huh? Must be nice living that close to Mustangs unlimited. Im like an hour away in Mass.

can be either, but i would replace it with silicone no matter what.

you would think so, but no, i hate that place with a passion

Rear mains are down low. This is on top of the tranny and then dripping down. When I had it up on the lift I thought that at first but then I looked behind the PCV when I had it on the ground and you can see little pools of it on top of the bellhousing.

it is the rear intake oil seal, mine need to be redone. i did not put enough silicone or something. don't use the rubber seals that come with the gaskets. use silicone, it lasts longer because the rubber seals like to get blown out.

When we pulled our aod for a t5 conversion, the entire top half was coated in oil. If your car is original, an intake leak is common, but not as common as valve covers. I'd bet the house it's the valve covers leaking down to the top of the trans. Very, very minor, but should serve as good fuel to get you a lower price on the car.
