Anyway to check this? I'm pretty sure I'm good, but just want to double check. I dont hear the pump hitting when I rest the pan on the motor. The motor is out of the car on a stand.

take a straight edge ruler across the pan rails and measure to the bottom of the pan. Now take the straight edge across the oil pump pick up and measure down to the oil pan rail agianst the block. Subtract the second measurement from the first and voila you have your oil pump pick up clearance. I like to see 3/8 to 7/16 clearance when I put them together.

+1. if you don't have enough clearance you will starve the oiling system.
