Oil Pan?

I use a 7.5 quart cobra oil pan. This t-pan is baffled an made from aluminium.

You are absolutely wrong about the extra oil not helping with contamination. There is a reason Mercedez uses 8 quarts of synthetic in a v6 motor and the oil change interval is between 11000 and 15000. Part of it is sythetic oil and part of it is the volume of oil used.

Second, I don't need a graph. If you have ever heard of conduction that explains it plane and simple. I couldn't say if this would make a big difference. You are provably right, I would be willing to bet it is a fairly negligable difference.

As far as the oil taking longer to heat up, big deal. You shouldn't be beating your engine up until its started to warm up anyways.

As far as a thermostatic setup to control flow through the oil cooler, if it isn't setup to keep the oil at a proper temp, why have it at all ?

Did Mercedez tell you that is their reason? If so, why do other automobile manufacturers not do the same thing? Maybe it's no big deal?

I didn't say you needed a graph, I just wondered if you knew of any that would show the difference. I agreed with you about the concept, I just said it's not helping out in a significant manner.

You completely missed the point on running with cold oil. You don't have to be beating on your engine for it to be receiving more damage. Even idling with cold oil is more harmful than if it were warmed up. The oil is thicker while cold and the engine burns more fuel as well, which is how you get most of the contaminants in your oil in the first place.

I think you also completely misunderstood what I said about the oil cooler. I'm not out to get you dude, just what you're saying isn't making any sense and I am sharing my side of the story.
