Been a while since I posted. Hello guys.

Still working on my engine make over. I received my Canton #15-610 oil pan and pick up #15-611 yesterday. The pick up did not come with a gasket. My oil pump is the Melling high volume unit (Summit P/N MEL-M68HV).

Do I need a gasket between the oil pick up and the pump? I'm getting conflicting advice so far. I think I do because any lack of seal could result in the pump sucking air not oil.

Will post some pics of my engine when I get the pan on.

I would get it, it seems like it would be hard for that thing to create vacuum to suck it up if it has a leak inside of it.

Yea, you definately need a gasket there. You do NOT want it sucking air and foaming the oil. If you can get one, make one. Gasket material and a small ball-peen hammer will do it for you.

Id use a gasket there.
That gasket usually comes with the oil pump. You should be able to pick it up allmost anywhere.
or call melling or canton to have one mailed to you.
