I have a 87 mustang. It has 130,000 Miles on her. Doesn't smoke or knock or anything but my oil pressure seems very very low from all the other 5.0s ive seen. Take a look at the pic ive enclosed. The blue lines is where it is when the engine is cold, and the yellow is where its usually at when the engine is warmed up. When the engine is warm and idleing at a stop light the pressure is at the bottom yellow line. :bang: Is this normal?

Well, I wouldn't put much stock into the factory dummy gauge. They're notoriously inaccurate. I'd guess that it also reads higher at highway speeds as well, right?

Mine fluctuates the same way and I’ve got 40,000 km on my engine.

I doubt it's anything to worry about.

i have both an autometer oil psi and the stocker hooked up and my stocker reads right at the half way point. and drops a little at the 800-900rpm idle. the autometer reads about 45-55psi, depending on rpms. you might just need a new pil pressure sender . i would try that first. just my .02

it doesnt hurt to have aftermarket gauges. my stockers and autometers are pretty different. the autometers are 100% more reactive to rpm changes, etc. it doesnt hurt to have a more accurate reading on whether or not ur motor will blow. i do use my stock tach for shift points (4500rpm, seems to feel that it doesnt pull much after that. and thats on the street, hate to blow my motor on some clown.) but ill prolly invest in a tach sometime soon.

another vote for aftermarket gauges. oil pressure and water temp at a min. the stockers were engineered to be hysteretic.

good luck.
