1/4 or 7/16... I don't recall for certain.

Edit: 1/4 Hex spun counter clock-wise.

Yep.

. . . and for future reference, a 351W uses a 5/16" socket.

Try taping the socket to the extension

I've seen guys actually weld them together and just hang onto it as the oil priming tool...lol

You can use a 1/4" or a 6.5mm. OOPS. Loaded slow, didn't see you already had the answer.

I have an old dizzy shaft with a 1/4 inch shank welded on I use. Just hit that with an air drill and all good. I have one for SBC's too

If I remember correctly, any bits you use with a standard cordless drill will have a 1/4" hex, so basically, get one of the extensions for those, leave the bit out, and use the area that the bit would have been in to turn the shaft. One of the better ford designs in my opinion.

Of course it's been a while, so I may not be correct.

Yeah, one of the better designs except the stupid thing is small and likes to break or turn itself into a Twizzler. LOL

Yeah, you don't want to get too carried away with the drill you're using, just a regular cordless (18V or so).

On a side note, make sure you don't pull the little metal clip off the hex shaft if installing a new one with the motor together.... you might miss... and it makes an unsettling *clunk* when it hits the bottom of the oil pan... which is not swell at all...

Never be lazy when it comes to priming a new engine...not worth the risk, you didn't put all that time in to cut corners for 10 dollars and ten minutes. I purchased a prime tool from local shop (moroso tool) for 20 bucks and use it every spring.
