oil sender

Hi guys wanted to know, where do you mount the aftermarket oil pressure sender, it seems so big, and I wanted to keep my stock gauge too.
where did you mount yours ??

If your going to keep the stock guage you need to tee the old sender and new one so they both work. Atleast thats what I did.

IIRC I used a 3 in pipe, then a 90* elbow, pointed it downwards, then put a T on it with the stock sensor pointing down, and the aftermarket one positioned by the filter.

I did it similar to Eric. I think I had a several inch extension come out of the block. Then a Tee with each sender mounted to the tee.

The stock sender and boss are 1/4" NPT and most aftermarket senders are 1/8" NPT. Adapt accordingly.

Ernan once did a thread about his gauge and he put up tons of pics and part numbers and such. I'd check it out.

I got the long fitting that comes on a 87-93.The stock sending unit screws in the end and you have about three inches of room to drill and tap for your aftermarket sending unit,blower feed,etc.

Ahh, yea, I forgot about that. I plan on getting one of those for my oil temp gauge.

These may help...All Home Depot stuff.

your factory sender will go in midway... the new line will feed out the end.

Factory sender in place... Youll need to add 6" lenght os so to the factory sender wire to reach the new location.

ok got the sender is working how much is it suppose to read anyway at idle ??
I have these 2 autometer gauges but neither of them seem to be working right
the temp meter starts climbing and it never stops, and the autometer oil gauge is only showing about 30psi while the stock gauge is showing like 55 psi..
iv'e tried to take ground from different places wouldn't make any difference, now the 12 volt source is coming from the radio is this wrong ??

Put a jumper ground on the sender's body and see if your reading changes. A ground path is achieved through the sender body (and the engine) but if lots of teflon tape is used, that can hinder the ground path.
