ok...I am relieved and freaked out right now...I just installed my oil separator...I took a, literally, 5 mile drive..and by the time I got back, the thing was almost full....why is there that much oil going into it? Did I overfill my oil? I checked the dipstick, and it looked fine..what would cause this?

where did you install the hoses at did you put it on the pass side valve cover where the pcv is at and the other at the plenum..

yep..exactly...ran it from the pass valve cover, to the separator, to the bottom of the plenum...does the length of the hose make any difference or anything? I mounted it right beside the maf....not on the back of the firewall...I didn't think that would do anything though??

that sounds about right hmmmm.... i cant think of anything that would make it fill up quick other than their is something wrong either with the pcv do you have pics of your setup?

oil separator setup? what does the pcv do? is that the part that actually plugs into the valve cover?

Probably just have a lot of blowby. It's probably just your engine and everything.. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start smoking out the tailpipes or something. My '04 with 7k miles fills it over halfway in a week or so of driving. Just be happy it's going in to the separator and not the intake.

But... five miles and its full? That can't be right

Yeah I wouldn't think it should be totally full after 5 miles. That sounds like an awful lot of blowby. Like somebody said earlier, I'd check your PCV valve to make sure it's working right.. give a shake and see if it rattles. If not, try replacing it. The placement of the hoses, or the separator shouldn't make any difference in how much it collects.

he should also check the separator its self and is pointing at the directionof flow or that could also make it fill up fast

Shoot, I go a good 500 miles and have LESS than a 1/4 in there  . Mine is tied into BOTH pcv systems, and I deleted my line into the CAI and rerouted it (using a T) into my other PCV line, then through my oil seperator and into my intake manilfold. So every bit of the PCV system goes through the seperator.

Took me a month or 2 to figure out I had 2 PCV lines, because all I was getting was a thin film in the holder and no liquid lol.

What it does, is suck any excess oil out of the valve cover and burns it through the engine. It also pulls any pressure out of the crank case..DONT PLUG THE PCV SYSTEM BTW. Some compression leaks into the crank case, and the pressure needs to be releaved.

The other, drivers side,of the PCV system is to allow filtered air into the engine to allow the passenger side part to pull contaminated air from the crankcase.
