Hey everyone, is there a full synthetic 5w20 motor oil available? I know Mobile 1 makes an 0w20 full synthetic that says on the bottle that it is compatible with cars specifying 5w20, which my '03 GT requires. I have been using Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend from the Ford dealer but want to go full synthetic.

Switching will not hurt your car.......Pennzoil and Quaker State also make full synthetic 5W20's.......It is kind of tough to find at local retailers.....best bet is to look in your local phonebook for oil distributors.

Thanks, just got back from my local Lube- It- All shop, they had the Quaker State 5W20 full syn, put 6 1/2 quarts in, cost me $62.00 to do the job. I don't mind paying to keep my Mustang happy, but next time I will see if I can get the oil retail and do it myself.

I pay the same to have my oil changed with Mobil 5w-30 synthetic. I would like to do it myself but dont think the hassle and having to get rid of the old oil is worth the money saved. Plus I get a car wash included in the price!

its been told to me by a couple mechanics that the 99 and up 4.6 idle at 120lbs of oil pressure and 5-20 or 0-20 should definitely be used... they said thicker oil albeit not alot can cause damage, one guy in particular said someone put in 10-40 and it blew the oil filter right off the housing letting all the oil out... net result was a locked up motor..
