I have a nearly empty enginebay. I tried lowering my new MAC 1 5/8 longtube headers in last night. I removed the starter and the steering shaft pre-emptively. The passenger side hit one end on the lower side of the AOD starter reciever and the #3 tube on the motor mount. It looked like it would have gone if the enginemount was like half a centimeter shorter on the top back side.
Now, I was not too discouraged and reinstaled my gt-40p specific shorties but I have a groundpounder tubular K-member and a-arms in the wings awaiting installation.
In anyone's experience, do you still need to lift motors with a tubular k-member to get longtubes in or is it a pinch once the k-member is in? I love everything I've read about longtubes but I wont do it if I cant take them off myself whenever the need arises. I dont like being dependant on shops.
