I'm getting new tires for my pony rims. What does everyone have on their ponies and are they a good all season tire? Good launching and cornering? Also, where are some good places to buy from around the Chicagoland area, considering Tirerack.com completely lied to me about my Pirelli P-Zero's. Thanks. -Kevin

i had to buy some cheap ass firestone firehawks a couple months ago because my tires were bald and i didnt have much of a choice but they turned out to be pretty decent tires. i think i paid 250 mounted/balanced for both rear tires. they hook a lot better than i thought too

I like the Pirelli Super Sports I have on one of my cars. They are Z Rated tires and are excellent in the rain. I have 245/50/ZR16 on all four. I would suggest a little thinner tire for the front though as they are a little wide on the 7in. rim.

I don't have Pony rims, but my Sumitomo's were great. Now they're kinda worn down, and don't hook worth crap on the street, but still are okay in the rain. They had excellent traction when new, but not that great tread life.

I just got a set of Nitto 450's 245-50-16 for mu ponies in the rear. Haven't had a chance to drive on them yet(look at the weather map for michigan over the last 2 weeks) But they look like they are going to be good tires

i have a set of: BFG g-Force T/A KDW. I had some Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP's on there and the BFG's blow them away. I'm running 245/50/R16's all around with no problems. The BFG's are incredible, they hook great on dry pavement, and great on wet pavement too. I'm extremely impressed with them, and will definitly buy them again (hopefully I can make it past 1 year )

ive had good luck with rubber tires. plastic tires did not work too well and metal tires handled poorly in the rain.

I've got Falken Ziex ze-502's on my car.. I hate-em. I picked them up originally because they were a good deal and had a great tread design. I figured they would be an excellent choice, but they have been horrible.

i've got the bridgestone fuzion tire.it hooks and handles decent for a street tire,it rides a little rough compared to other tires i've had.the michelin pilot tires rode better but got less traction and costed way more.it depends on what you want.

I JUST got a pair of 245/50-R16 BFG g-force KDW but havent driven on them yet. Did a lot a research and these seemed to be the tire to get for the cash. But if you want to be irresponcible about it just slap on some Nitto 555's, they hook like monsters (Just tore through my first set)

When I used pony rims I bought both 225/60/16 and 245/50/16 (<-not sure on the aspect ratio of this one) Goodyear GAs and GTII's. No complaints here. Except that they wouldn't hook up very well.

Another vote for BFG Radial T/A

After spending some time at the tire manufacture’s web site (www.firestone.com, www.bfgoodrichtires.com, www.goodyear.com , www.firestone.com, etc) you will have lots of good info on what is available for your stang, Try Sam’s Club for the tires. They may not have the tires that you want in stock, but since you will have done your homework, you can pick and choose out of their special order book. I did and saved $80 on 4 tires. If you aren’t a member it will cost you $25 for a membership, but the bucks you can save on other things will make it worthwhile.

Running Nitto 555s on the front in 245/40s and they are great, and Nitto 555Rs on the rear in 275/45s and they actually are not bad in the rain and I live in WA so we get enough. They do suck when it is freezing out though they turn to ice, just a good excuse to warm them up!!!

I bought my BFG g-Force T/A's at BJ's wholesale club. I saved a TON of money buying the tires through them. PLUS, they come with (included in price) a lifetime roadhazard warranty.

I have BFG Comp T/A's - the z rated ones not the drag radials. If you want dry traction, DON'T get these tires. My old Falkens hooked better than these on dry pavement. With that said, they are great in the rain and corner like champs.

Just curious but why did you put drag radials on the front of your car?

i run nitto 555's on mine, hooks good, dont know about rain or snow though as they have never seen either!
