bent or burnt... who knows. The only way to find out was to pay for to tear the motor down, and I wasn't about to do that. The car had 125k miles on it and no telling what other problems were in that motor, so I opted for the new one.

I didn't end up getting the motor back because they wanted 1000 core charge to keep my motor. Forget that.

Alls signs point to Midas though. I asked the guy if it was working when he drove it before he did the alignment. He said yes. I wish I had a tape recorder for that one. He just told me he broke it right there. I'm not doubting what your saying, ratrapp, but the evidence is pilling up. Can a bent or burnt valve happen without running it hard?

burnt valves do happen but a bent one is a definite sign of abuse.if the valve was bent then it's more than likely midas but if it was burnt then hard to say because valves do burn and wear out over time.

Just took mine to NTB to get aligned, nice place, 1st time I ever been there. They allow you to go into the shop and watch your car being worked on. They were all under my car while it was on the lift looking at stuff. Anyways, no hot rodding.

Did you drop the car off? Then pick it up later? I stayed and watched them, it doesn't take very long. I don't trust anyone working on my stuff unless I absolutely can't do it (like alignment) and stay to watch them.

That's the way to go right there. The mere sight of a power adder or modified engine to an unattended "car guy" (mechanic) is like leaving pretty sharp objects in the hands of a stoned baby. Not in this lifetime.

f**k that man. Bottom line is that when you took your car in it was fine. You get it back and the thing just takes a dump. Somebody decided that it would be fun to go for a joy ride. I would fight those bastards to the bitter end. Quite a while back when i was under warranty on my 96 somone thought it would be a good idea to do some non warranty work because it needed done....... no call nothing just a bill. I chewed the managers ass up and down he took care of the bill and gave me 10 free oil change/services. Never give up unless its completely a waste of time.
