I finally got some 31 splines and associated parts along with a ds safety loop. One step closer to being able to safely run slicks.

I went with strange c-clip axles and a cobra differential. Lakewood loop.

I also went from 3.55's to 2.27's so I can get some more rpm in fourth. Trapping anything over 125 and I was on the limiter everytime. Since I will be running more boost once I get a clutch to hold, I thought it was time for 3.27's. Now 2nd gear goes to about 65, 3rd is about 100-110 and 4th I have taken to 125 with rpm left, so it should be around 135 at 6K.

All I need now is a tranny and slicks.

Wow, that's all balls my friend.
I'm impressed... keep that going, and you will definitely make 10s soon.

It's always amazing to hear that you need to actually buy lower gears to improve speed time versus having to obviously upgrade to higher gears (which are like 60% of the thread btw "which gears to get? 3:55s or 3:73" "what will my gas mileage be with 4:10s" blah blah)

your car is pimp

I know, it is weird changing gears like that. I have had 3.08's, 4.10's, 3.55's and now 3.27's. I never would have thought that I would max 3.55's out, but I pretty much was. So far I like the feel of the 3.27's and now I can get more mph in 4th.

that's crazy.
what were you shifting at with the 3.55s?
like 40mph in 1st? 90 in 2nd?

What are you talking about??

I posted up top what I'm seeing with the 3.27's.

The 3.55 were a little less mph in each gear.

Something like 55-60 in 2nd and 125-127 in 4th etc.. All just at 6k.

No I know the speeds up top were for 3.27s, but I wouldn't think there to be much of a difference between the 3.27s and 3.55s to justify a change.

which would explain your yet again, new change.

Odd I went 128-129 mph with 3.73s 26" tire 6k shift

I now do 132mph with tons of gear left (3.27s)
The turbo will like that gear alot more, so much more load, and you can run 140mph in 4th now so no worries.

Also should welded the axle tubes up

Yeah, I don't know if maybe my tach is off a bit or what, but from the research I have done, I should have been good with 3.55's for a while, but I could seriously see the car start to cut out at about 125mph as it would hit the limiter.

Either way, I know I'm fine now and have more room to grow. Also, I'm hoping to weld up the tubes when I get control arms and reinforce the torque boxes some day. I'll have to start checking around as to where I can get tha done and how much it will cost.

Also, I can notice a difference between the gears. Yeah obvious it is not a huge difference, but I notice the extra length and it is pretty fun. Although its getting harder and harder to go through the gears in town, because of the speed that is associated. With my 4.10 banging gear to 3rd and 4th was too big of a deal, Now I would be going well over a 100 or so.
