My Mustang is driven once or twice a month in the Winter and I would like your opinion on the best way to extend battery life. Would a battery tender be the best way? or just pulling negative cable off? I'm not sure about the cable route, doesn't the puter have to re-learn everytime it's put back on?

Thanks, guys.

I would use a smart trickle charger (such as you suggested).

The battery can still discharge while disconnected, and as you noted, learned behavior and settings are lost when it is disconnected.
