Hi all - anyone have any Stewart Warner Gauges? It seems that Autometer dominates the gauge market, any reason why not to buy Stewart Warner? They are ***way*** cheaper than Autometer, but don't seem to have the variety as Autometer.

I've never used them (Autometer here :D ), but from the looks of the Stewart Warner website ( http://www.stewartwarner.com/ ), they seem to offer a modest selection of gauges ( http://www.stewartwarner.com/Products/prod1.html ) as well pods for Mustangs ( http://www.sw-performance.com/Prods/61c-09.html ).

What exactly are you looking for; a certain "design?"

Well, autometer has 9 or 10 different styles available for the basic types of gauges, and S-W has three. But what I'm really asking I guess is that Autometer is not only recognized for their different styles, but for also being extremely accurate. I'm guessing that S-W is extremely accurate as well, but was just looking to see if anyone had used them and was happy with their performance.

My understanding is that S-W used to dominate the gauge market, but Autometer has taken over. Why - is it just the better selection of styles or is there some other reason?

From what I know of Stewart-Warner, they used to dominate the market as you said. But, they always looked the same for years. In comes Autometer, VDO, etc. offering various styles......and S-W still looked like the voltmeter on your lawn tractor. I think they all but dropped off the face of the earth as far as the automotive aftermarket, but it seems that they have released some updated gauges.

If you like the style and the price is right, go for it.

I got them in this and alot of other military equipment has them, seem to work fine on these vehicles.

Stewart Warner Rocks!!! My brother got sponsored by them for his Eclipse and they sent him like 13 gauges said there you go now slap our name on your car... Great people his gauges came from I believe Lancaster PA... I live decently close... But when I get gauges... I will get them for free from him! But they are awesome work just as good as autometer jus not as many styles!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I had narrowed my selection down to Autometers C2 and the Phantom gauges. I think if I go with the Phantom style I'll actually buy the S-W gauges that look the same.
