yeah the butt dyno is misleading....just wanted to know if right now 300hp is impossible...

im going look for some headers. then install a throttle body.....and maybe injectors....

but does anyone know if 24lbs injectors will run on the speed denisty...>??

My brother needed to toss MA in his car to get the 24s to run right and his combo is almost the same... He made 250 rwhp, switched to the mass air and made 290 or so.

+40 hp from just switching to MAF? And on GT-40s? You guys are magic with Ford iron...

No the car didnt run right with the 24s and no MAF. It made power to 4500 and then just fell off, put in the MAF set up and tuned it and it made 290 or so.

i don't see maf giving me that much more!!!!!!!! but i wil say my car does seem to run weak at right around 45-4800rpms

i dont think headers and a maf would even be noticeable difference.....'
i do want header now after realizing how much smaller the stock headers are,and i know im choking that motor up.......

but what do you guys think as of right now. would a MAF conversion give me any gain?

guys are making plenty of power with a SD set up. the key to making SD perform is in a tune. if you havnt had your computer tuned I would make that a priority after you get headers. I can practically guarantee it would solve your problems from 45k+rpms.

Well my brothers car doesnt have a chip or anything, we tune it with fuel pressure and timing. Here is a quote from my brothers web page...

"The surging issue proved to be a bad MAP sensor. She went on the dyno on 5/8 - only to show that the car is starving for fuel above 4000 rpm. Root cause appears to be the SD computer. The mass air conversion is next on the list. BTW, the car made 250 rwhp @ 4200 rpm"

"After doing the Mass Air Conversion, another dyno visit yielded 286 rwhp"

So there it is, not from me from him (he knows better than me). Not saying he "gained" anything, just the car wouldnt run right with the SD set up, and runs fine with the MAF set up. Not claiming to know anything, just our experience.

Yea, that makes sense. Still, 286 RWHP is really good for GT-40 heads. What are the specs on his motor? I'm still blown away that you make almost 260 to the wheels with E7s. The air must just be thicker there

His car has a stock 95 GT bottom end, stock HO cam (2 degrees retarded), GT40Ps with 1.84/1.54 valves and a valve job, 1.7 rockers, cobra intake, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, 24 lbs, FMS shorties, prochamber, hooker mufflers.

My car actually has made 272/316, then dropped to 265/308, and last time with the new exhaust 258/295 which is where it sits now.

I wouldn't spend the money on injectors, maf and conversion just yet... get your headers and put them on and get the car dyno tuned. If your close enough to the stock injector limit of 300hp then invest in the addition parts when the funds and time are available to you. Why change up everything at onece when you already have an issue... mods will only make the issue appear more often and the issue may have to be with the tune itself anyway.

oh yeah thats my plans..with headers whose to say i ant reach 300hp though??? which is my goal......

so i was thinking headers and maybe some injectors cause the 19lbs are only good for about 275hp according to my calculations..cant do injectors without maf im told. so its headers, maf, then injectors which should put me well over 300whp

but i will start with the headers which must be the most restrictive part of my combo

you'll be pretty close man. any work done to the heads? my little e7's have about as much work as you can do to them. full port job with 1.94/1.6 valves. as is, my heads flow better than the aluminum "turbo swirl" gt40x heads (216/149 to my 218.9/154 at .500 lift with STOCK valves), and my afm cam has .512 lift, so it takes them to their fullest potential. stock e7's are 156/116, and from what i've read, gt40p's flow 196/139 stock. the thing about the P's over e7's, though, is you have more room to grow. honestly, if you don't have any work done to them and your car is running right, right now you probably have (retracting my previous estimate) 260-270 to the tire, and if you get some new headers, throttle body, and any lean issue the SD computer might cause in check, you will definitely be scratching the backdoor to the 300 mark, but i'm going to say you'll still be just under it. i seriously doubt you'll hit 11's, but you'll for sure be deep into the 12's with some decent driving and traction. you were comparing to 25th and his car, but 1. he's a badass driver, and 2. he was on slicks on the 12.5 pass.

Retarding the cam moves the power band up...

Also, 300 rwhp and 11s takes more than just point it down the track and floor it. We had two GT40 cars go 11s, both are 3100 lbs or so, had mid to low 1.6 60's, and went 11.96 @ 111 and 11.97 @ 111, both with right at 300 rwhp. The average 300 to the tire car is a mid 12 second car. For a full weight street car with an average driver at an average trrack to run 11.99 or better, I would say 350 rwhp would be a number to shoot for.

It can be done with less, but it takes a lot of practice.

i say get the gt-40s or similar (thumper, p heads etc)

good intake and keep a stock cam, maybe retard it a few degrees. should make awesome power for the street. dont get caught up in HP numbers.

dont start sacraficing low and mid range power to gain some higher RPM power. especially if the car is street driven alot. its not all about max power.

to me a well built gt-40 headed car with stock cam and intake would make good power and have plenty of low end and be killer for a street car, still pull real good but not so much power it just boils the tires. would be alot more fun to drive than a high revving engine making its best power 6k+ having sacraficed the low end, wouldnt be as fun on the street IMO.

keep the low end power. and later throw KB and then you'll have an absolute torque monster, then you better start saving for tires.

I love my E7 and my brother GT40P comboes for the street. They arent the fastest around, but if your not street racing, they are fun to drive!

Ignition timing? Should be advanced to about 14 degrees BTDC, though some cars can take more. Running premium will allow you to advance it more.

Theres no right or wrong answer there, wherever it makes the most power.
