so my stang is pretty much dead due to the tourqe box peeling away from the pan so im thinking about doing this if i cant find a good 4eye donor coupe. my idea is to take a 84-85rx7 gsl
and drop my drivetrain into it its almost a straight swap all you have to do to get the 302 into is turn the crossmember around so the fox pan drops over it. the motor still stays under the stock hood and you can run mid 13s on a stock 302 not bad for around 1000$ in parts. what do you guys think?

What are the rear suspension and gears on the RX7?

I think the swap is going to be more complicated than that. What about fuel system? Are you going carbed? What about ignition system? The physical act of getting the engine in, is only one issue to solve.

Doner cars are not hard to find. I would opt for getting a car with good paint and body even if it costs a little more.

Being a conversion guy I agree with Stock. There is MUCH more involved. However there are a number of Rx7 swap that have been done.

www.gannysspeedshop.com has much information on it. That said, unless you have another mustang, I would say get another mustang chassis, no other car or conversion will handle or be the same.. Ask me how I know.....

So your torque boxes are so bad that they cannot be fixed with the kit from Wild Rides? It is a complete replacement (I'm not talking about the reinforcement plates everyone sells).

Buy some Lakewood slapper bars. They keep the rear from flexing and twisting. Cheap insurance. I think they are the key to my rearend's longevity after so many 1.55 60 foot launches and ll second passes with a stick.
